our approach

ScholarMade’s approach to children’s education

Personalized Learning

Through our Personalized Learning Approach, Scholars spend some of the day engaged in self-paced digital learning implemented through our personalized learning course and through small group instruction in the classroom. All curriculum has online components in which Scholars practice and review skills digitally using their Chromebooks which are provided for home and school use. Our personalized learning approach places the scholar on center stage, not the teacher and this will create an open space for daily routines, independent learning activities, problem-based learning, and purposeful pacing.

Art as a Healing Practice

Our Scholars participate in creative artistic practices that promote healing, wellness, and personal growth. Our Scholars flourish at ScholarMade as space is created for their creativity to be cultivated, recognized, and honored.

Emotional Intelligence: the Way and the Light

Our Emotional Intelligence framework, the Way and the Light, builds scholars capacity to apply consequential thinking and use a variety of strategies that foster positive relationships with peers and adults resulting in fewer disciplinary infractions and serving as the foundation to healthy school environment. Students benefit most fully from the Way and the Light as emotional intelligence is woven into the fabric of how our schools and classrooms function. Every interaction with and between students is a chance to demonstrate, model, practice, and nurture the skills of emotional intelligence. This is key to understanding others and forming enduring and trusting relationships. It ensures we consider Scholar Voice and Teacher Voice in decision-making and gives them assurance that they matter and are valued. Scholars and Staff connect their daily choices with our mission, vision, and overarching sense of purpose.
